Services
Mobile Application Development Services in Kampala
From a first version to a full platform with patients, drivers, students or customers on the same system.
Android App Development
Native Kotlin or cross-platform Android apps built for budget phones, patchy networks and limited data. Android is the main platform for most Ugandan customers.
Flutter app developmentiOS App Development
iPhone and iPad apps prepared for App Store review, with the same codebase as your Android app when you choose Flutter or React Native.
React Native developmentCross-Platform Apps
One codebase for Android and iOS. You pay to build and maintain the app once, and every fix reaches both platforms together.
See how we use FlutterMVP & Startup Apps
A focused first version you can put in front of real users within weeks, built so you can add features without rewriting it.
MVP developmentBackend, API & Admin Dashboard
Most apps need a server, a database and a web dashboard for your team. We build these with the app so orders, users and payments are manageable.
API developmentApp Redesign & Rescue
Already have an app that is slow, crashes or confuses users? We audit it, fix the biggest problems first and redesign the screens people struggle with.

Flutter, React Native or Kotlin: Which Fits Your App?
We build with all three, so the recommendation depends on your features and budget, not on the tool we happen to prefer.
Flutter
Best for most business apps
- One codebase for Android and iOS
- Smooth custom interfaces and animations
- Strong choice for apps with chat, maps, charts and offline data
React Native
Best if you already use React for the web
- One codebase for Android and iOS
- Shares skills and some logic with your React or Next.js website
- Large library ecosystem for common features
Kotlin
Best for Android-only apps with deep phone access
- Official native language for Android
- Full access to Bluetooth, background services and camera features
- Right choice when you will never need an iPhone version
Built for Uganda
Mobile Apps Designed for How Ugandans Use Their Phones
An app built for a US or European market often fails in Kampala. These are the four things we design around from day one.
93.09%
of mobile devices in Uganda ran Android in September 2026, against 6.86% for iOS.
Source: StatCounter Global StatsAndroid first
We test on budget Android phones and older Android versions, not only on flagship devices.
Mobile Money built in
MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money through gateways such as Pesapal and Flutterwave, matched to orders in your admin dashboard.
Works on weak connections
We cache data on the phone, queue actions while offline and sync when the signal returns, with small images and light API responses to protect data bundles.
Security that fits the data
Apps that handle health, money or personal records get two-factor sign-in, encrypted messages and an audit trail of who accessed what.
Pricing

- Real-time chat, calls or live tracking
- Offline mode with background sync
- Two-factor sign-in and audit trails

What changes the price of an app
- The number of screens and how custom the design is
- Integrations such as mobile money, maps, SMS, chat and video
- Whether you need a backend and web admin dashboard
- Android only, or Android and iOS
- Offline mode and sync, which add real engineering work
- Store fees: Google Play charges a one-time $25 and the Apple Developer Program charges $99 a year
Support and updates after launch are quoted separately from the build. Prices above are starting points, not fixed packages. Only need a website? See our web design pricing.
Our work
Mobile App Case Study: Ask Musawo Healthcare App
Ask Musawo connects patients in Uganda with doctors. We built the Flutter mobile app, the Node.js and MySQL backend, and the web platform that runs it.
Health data needs stricter security than most apps, and patients often have weak connections. So we built security and offline behaviour into the first version instead of adding them later.
What we built
- Patient and doctor accounts with doctor verification
- Appointment booking and online payments through Pesapal
- Encrypted real-time chat and voice or video consultations
- Prescriptions generated as PDFs and lab test ordering
- Two-factor sign-in and an audit trail of record access
- Offline-first caching for unreliable connections
Stack: Flutter, Riverpod, Node.js, Express, Prisma, MySQL, Socket.IO and WebRTC.

Process
Our Mobile App Development Process
A simple process with no hidden stages, so you always know what is happening and what comes next.
- 1
Discovery call
Free. We learn who the app is for, what it must do first, and what budget you have.
- 2
Fixed quote and plan
You get the scope, price and timeline in writing, with a list of what is and is not included.
- 3
Design
We design the screens and user flow and you approve them before any code is written.
- 4
Build in stages
You test working builds on your own phone every one to two weeks. We also test on budget Android phones and different Android versions, so problems show up before launch.
- 5
Launch and support
We prepare the store listing, submit to Google Play and the App Store, and handle review feedback. After launch we keep fixing, updating for new Android and iOS versions, and improving.

FAQ
Mobile App Development in Uganda: Your Questions Answered
Cost, timelines, technology and what happens after launch. Still unsure? Ask us on WhatsApp.
How much does it cost to build a mobile app in Uganda?+
At Kico, a simple app starts from UGX 4,000,000, a business app with user accounts, payments and an admin dashboard starts from UGX 9,000,000, and a custom multi-role platform starts from UGX 20,000,000. The final price depends on the number of screens, the integrations (mobile money, maps, chat, video) and whether you need a backend and admin panel. You get a fixed written quote after a free discovery call.
How long does it take to develop a mobile app?+
A simple app usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. A business app with payments and an admin dashboard takes 8 to 12 weeks. Larger platforms with real-time chat, video calls or offline sync take 3 to 6 months. We agree the timeline in writing before work starts and ship in stages so you can test early builds.
Should I build an Android app, an iOS app, or both?+
Start with Android if most of your customers are in Uganda. StatCounter data for September 2026 shows Android on 93.09% of mobile devices in Uganda and iOS on 6.86%. If you also serve diaspora customers, corporate clients or high-income users, we build both from one Flutter or React Native codebase so the extra cost is small.
Flutter, React Native or Kotlin: which should I choose?+
Choose Flutter or React Native when you want Android and iOS from one codebase at a lower cost. Choose Kotlin when the app is Android-only and needs deep access to the phone, such as background services, Bluetooth or heavy camera work. We build with all three and recommend one after we understand your features and budget.
Can my app accept MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money payments?+
Yes. We integrate payment gateways that support MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money and cards, such as Pesapal and Flutterwave. The gateway handles the payment screen and the confirmation, and your app and admin dashboard record the order or booking automatically.
Will the app work with slow internet or no internet?+
It can. We design Ugandan apps to cache data on the phone, queue actions while the user is offline and sync when the connection returns. We also keep images small and API responses light so the app is usable on budget Android phones and limited mobile data.
Do you publish the app to Google Play and the App Store?+
Yes. We prepare the store listing, screenshots, privacy information and app build, submit it, and respond to review feedback. You will need a Google Play developer account (a one-time $25 fee) and, for iPhone, an Apple Developer account ($99 a year). Apple and Google review times vary, so we plan for them in the timeline.
How do you test a mobile app before launch?+
We test every build on real Android phones, including budget models, and on different Android versions, then test iPhones if you need an iOS app. We check sign-in, payments, notifications, poor-network behaviour and what happens when the app is closed or the phone loses signal. You also test each build yourself during development.
What happens after my app launches?+
Launch is the start. Phones, Android versions and your business all change, so apps need bug fixes, security updates and new features. We offer support and update plans, quoted separately from the build so you know the cost before you commit.
Do you work with clients outside Kampala?+
Yes. We are based in Kampala and work with clients in Wakiso, Entebbe, Mukono, Jinja, Mbarara, Gulu and the rest of Uganda. Discovery calls, design reviews and test builds all happen online, so you do not need to travel to our office.
